Zeligsoft Supports EB's Software Defined Radio Core Framework Implementation

Proven tool suite now integrated with European platform

London, UK, June 11, 2007 — At the International Software Radio Conference, Zeligsoft™, a leading vendor of software development tools to the embedded computing industry, today announced support for Elektrobit Corporation’s Software Defined Radio (SDR) Core Framework (CF), the first European-developed, SCA-compliant CF¹ implementation.

The Elektrobit Corporation (EB) CF is the sixteenth addition to Zeligsoft’s ever-growing list of supported CFs, which already includes private, public domain and commercially available software used in major US DoD JTRS programs and global SDR development initiatives and demonstration efforts.

EB is the primary development contractor for the Finnish Software Radio Programme — a program established to research requirements and prototype future advanced mobile communications systems for Finnish defense forces and civilian groups. EB has successfully completed the Finnish Software Radio Programme Demonstrator phase of this project by delivering an operational SDR platform comprising the Spectrum Signal Processing SDR-3000, VxWorks real-time operating system, TAO object request broker and EB’s own CF.

Zeligsoft’s proven SDR development tool, Zeligsoft CE™, now supports design, deployment and configuration of Software Defined Radios (SDRs) using EB’s CF, enabling developers to readily take advantage of a European CF implementation.  CE benefits developers writing applications for use on this platform by streamlining their development process and providing time-saving and risk-reducing code automation. CE also benefits developers needing to port the EB CF to additional radio terminals now and in the future.

“SDR is moving forward strongly in the European community,” said Reima Kettunen, SDR Business Line Manager, EB. “State-of-the-art development tools can significantly reduce risk, accelerate development and ensure interoperability between different implementations.”

“Zeligsoft CE is known for its adaptability and support for multiple SDR/SCA platforms,” said Kamal Krishnapillai, VP Sales and Marketing, Zeligsoft. “Support for the EB platform further enhances our product and service offerings to the European marketplace. We look forward to helping our European customers realize project success.”

Notes
¹A Software Communications Architecture (SCA) Core Framework is a standardized run-time layer enabling the deployment and configuration of interoperable radios. The SCA standardizes the deployment, management, interconnection, and intercommunication of software application components in embedded, distributed-computing communication systems. While the SCA is published and maintained by the US DoD Joint Program Executive Office of the Joint Tactical Radio System (JPEO JTRS), it has received wide support and use from commercial radio developers and industry organizations.
