Zeligsoft Profiles Leading Asian R&D Organization at the 2007 Software Defined Radio Technical Conference

Leading Software Defined Radio (SDR) development environment and consulting services used by Thales Technology Centre Singapore for key project

Denver, CO, November 6, 2007 — Zeligsoft™, a leading vendor of software development tools to the embedded computing industry, today announced that it will be profiling a leading Asian research and development organization, Thales Technology Centre Singapore (TTCS), at the annual Software Defined Radio Technical Conference and Product Exposition. TTCS has completed a key SDR waveform development project using Zeligsoft’s SDR automation tools and consulting services.

SDR continues to strongly influence the future of wireless and mobile communications, and TTCS, Thales’ first R&D center in Asia, is taking a leading position in SDR R&D. TTCS possesses deep expertise in signal processing technology, which they were able to readily apply to the waveform development project. The project, however, also required the waveform to comply with the Software Communications Architecture (SCA), a US DoD mandated framework for radios within the Joint Tactical Radio System (JTRS), which specifies rules on how to develop, deploy and configure SDRs. Zeligsoft delivered a combination of tools (Zeligsoft CE™ and Code Generator), training and professional services to ensure that TTCS could meet the SCA aspect of the project.

“TTCS proved that an in-house SCA expert is not required to develop an SCA-compliant radio application,” said Mark Hermeling, Director of Applications Engineering, Zeligsoft. “Zeligsoft’s development methodology and automation streamline the development process, ensure correct-by-construction SCA artifacts and greatly reduce the risk of problems arising at integration time.”

A methodical and iterative progression was used by TTCS to first simulate the radio in a non-SCA environment, then to port it to an SCA-compliant host environment, and finally to the SCA-compliant target platform. Zeligsoft Code Generator, a tool that fully automates the production of SCA component code, was used to generate code for the SCA host and target platforms. At any point in the project, TTCS was able to execute partially implemented components on host or target platform.

“With the support of Zeligsoft’s tools, TTCS used a proven best-practice in SDR development,” continued Mr. Hermeling. “They began with a subset of functionality and only when satisfied with the correctness and performance of the part in question did they continue to add functionality. By gradually increasing the functionality of their SCA application, integration went according to project plan.”

TTCS also benefited from the integration between the Zeligsoft environment and their functional coding tool — the ease of which functional code was incorporated into SCA-compliant component code saved them a notable amount of time.

“We are very pleased with the outcome of this project,” said Patrick Plante, Chief Executive Officer, Thales Technology Centre Singapore. “Our in-house skills, complemented by Zeligsoft’s services and tools, proved to be a very successful combination.”

“We are delighted to have supported TTCS in this strategic project,” said Kamal Krishnapillai, VP Sales and Marketing, Zeligsoft. “As the key SDR tools supplier to the world’s leading defense integrators, we have had the pleasure of working closely with teams in other Thales locations. We are committed to supporting all of Thales’ future projects worldwide.”

Additional details on how Zeligsoft supported TTCS’s project can be obtained at Zeligsoft’s booth (#38) at the SDR Forum’s 2007 Technical Conference and Product Exposition, taking place November 5-8 at the Marriott Denver Tech Center, Denver, Colorado.
