Francis provides strategic leadership for Zeligsoft's product vision and serves as the company's primary technology expert. Since founding the company in 2002, Francis has built a world class management, advisory and development team, developed strategic partnerships with key companies in the embedded systems development value chain, and established a worldwide sales team designed to serve Fortune 500 customers. Prior to founding Zeligsoft, Francis was an Assistant Professor at Carleton University where he focused his research on Model Driven Development (MDD) and advanced software engineering tools and techniques. He has over 15 years experience with MDD, software engineering and software-defined radio systems, working, consulting and collaborating with numerous companies, including Rational Software, Mercury Computer Systems, Nortel, CML Technology and Versatel Networks. Francis holds a B.Sc. in Mathematics from the University of Montreal, a Bachelor of Computer Science from the University of Quebec, and a Master in Computer Science and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada.
Simon Redding joined Zeligsoft in 2007 with responsibility for leading Zeligsoft's development team. Simon brings over 20 years of experience in embedded software design and tools development, and is passionate about leveraging designer skill and time through advanced technology. Prior to joining Zeligsoft, Simon headed software teams at JDS Uniphase and Innovance Networks developing advanced optical and photonic products for networking, telecommunications, and test and measurement. He spent 4 years at ObjecTime and Rational Software, with overall responsibility for key components for the industry standard Rose and Rose RealTime UML-based modeling tools. At BNR/Nortel, Simon worked in a variety of positions of increasing responsibility, including development of compilers, operating systems, fault tolerant frameworks and optical amplifiers. Simon holds a Bachelor of Science in Physics from McGill University and a Master in Computer Science from Concordia University, both in Montreal, Quebec.
Mike Williams joined Zeligsoft in September 2008 to lead Zeligsoft’s business development and marketing activities. Mike brings with him over 30 years of technical and managerial experience in the high-technology sector. Prior to Zeligsoft, Mike provided strategic consulting services to technology start-ups, guiding their business development efforts and planning for new product introductions. Mike held senior management positions with Wedge Networks and Chrysalis-ITS (now SafeNet), organizations who provide advanced cryptography products for web, e-mail and information security. Mike’s experience extends deeply into the telecommunications domain with senior roles at MCK Communications (now Citel), where he and his team lead the company to an IPO in 1999, AT&T Network Systems Canada (now Alcatel-Lucent) and Northern Telecom (Nortel). Mike holds a Bachelor of Mathematics from the University of Waterloo’s esteemed School of Computer Science.
Bran Selic joined Zeligsoft in September 2009 with responsibility for the overall Zeligsoft model-based engineering (MBE) strategy and technology research programs. Bran has close to 40 years of industrial experience in the design and implementation of large-scale real-time and embedded software and is a recognized as a pioneer in the application of modern model-based engineering methods in real-time development. Prior to joining Zeligsoft, Bran worked for IBM Canada, where he was an IBM Distinguished Engineer. Before that, he co-founded ObjecTime Limited where he was Vice President for Research and Development and also Vice President for Advanced Technology. While at ObjecTime, Bran was a member of the team that designed the Unified Modeling Language (UML) industry standard, ultimately chairing the UML 2 standardization committee between 2003 and 2008. He is on the editorial board of several prominent scientific journals and is a frequent keynote speaker at various technical conferences and events. Bran is also an Adjunct Professor of Computer Science at the University of Toronto and Carleton University and is involved with a number of ongoing government-funded research initiatives investigating model-based engineering in Canada, France, and Australia.
Michelle Van Tol joined Zeligsoft in April 2010. Michelle has over 20 years of experience as a finance executive and has been instrumental in the growth of numerous technology companies overseeing their financing, and mergers and acquisitions activities. Previously Michelle served as CFO for Symagery Microsystems, which was acquired by Psion PLC in 2005 and CFO at Kinaxis, which obtained $50 million in financing through a private placement. Michele began her career as a senior accountant at KPMG and later served in a number of roles at Newbridge Networks including assistant vice president. Michelle holds an MBA from the University of Ottawa and a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Carleton University, and is a Chartered Accountant and member of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants (CICA)
