SDR - Software Defined Radio: Reduce Risk with Zeligsoft

Software Communications Architecture

Zeligsoft CE™, our flagship product, is the proven solution for Software Communications Architecture projects. It is being widely used by prime DoD contractors to build Software Defined Radios conforming to the Software Communications Architecture for the JTRS.

CE reduces the risks that affect time-to-market, software quality and cost of SCA-based SDR projects involving:

A little more about the Software Communications Architecture
The Software Communications Architecture is a US DoD (Department of Defense) defined framework standard that specifies rules on how to develop, deploy, and configure Software Defined Radio (SDR). The Software Communications Architecture utilizes component-based software development and deployment.

The Software Communications Architecture standard is currently overseen by the JPEO JTRS.

The Software Communications Architecture is being adopted worldwide as a standard for military radios. It is expected that future global programmable radios in other fields, such as public safety, will adopt the Software Communications Architecture.

The main goal of the Software Communications Architecture is to reduce cost and increase interoperability in SDRs.

Cost Reduction
SDRs developed using the Software Communications Architecture use commercial off the shelf (COTS) hardware to reduce hardware cost and the risks associated with single source supply. Costs are also reduced through software and hardware reuse — the same software can be used on many hardware platforms, including hardware that has yet to be developed.

Interoperability
SDRs developed using the Software Communications Architecture can be reconfigured in real-time to use different communications protocols and frequency bands. This means that the same radio hardware can support many different radio applications, for example, communicating with a satellite one minute and the handheld radio of a team member the next.

Capable of Growth
SDRs developed using the Software Communications Architecture are also built so that they can be upgraded with new software, even over the air interface. This way, radios, even if already deployed, can assume a new “personality” in a matter of minutes.
