JTRS The Joint Tactical Radio System (JTRS), now formally referred to as the Joint Program Executive Office of the Joint Tactical Radio System (JPEO JTRS), is tasked to develop, produce, integrate, and field a family of interoperable, digital, modular, Software Defined Radios that operate as nodes in a network to ensure secure wireless communications and networking services for mobile and fixed forces. Examples of radio terminals comprising the JTRS include handheld, vehicular, airborne, and dismounted radios, as well as fixed and maritime base-stations. The JTRS has standardized on the Software Communications Architecture (SCA) in order to achieve radio functionality, expandability, and interoperability.
